There are things they don’t prepare you for in teacher training. Active listening, sure. Lesson planning, of course. Detention management? Technically covered.

Let me tell you the truth about Anna.

Anna is not a bad student. She’s just... operating in a parallel universe. A universe where “media studies” meant learning how to become an influencer. Anna is the only student I’ve ever met who filed a verbal complaint about the lighting in detention. Said it gave her “jury duty energy.”

Here’s the thing, though.

So yes, she is extra. Yes, she once tried to negotiate her way out of detention But the truth about Anna is: She’s smarter than she lets on. Funnier than she needs to be.

And just enough of a menace to keep things interesting. God help me I think I kind of admire her. I need a nap.
